SHOFARS

Shofars

When English Bibles speak of a trumpet, they are most often describing the shofar, the instrument made of a ram's hom. The shofar has long been used to summon the congregation of Israel, particularly on Rosh HaShanah, which is called "The Festival of Blowing of Shofars" in the Bible (Leviticus 23:24). The shofar is used to call Israel to repentance on Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. The connection between the shofar and the Day of Atonement is readily seen in the fact the shofar recalls the Akedah, Isaac when Father Abraham offered his son on Mt. Moriah. The shofar is a continual reminder that the God of Israel is YHWH Jireh, the Lord who sees and provides (Genesis 22:14).

All of our shofars are sold as half-polished, half-natural, and come with a kosher certification from Barsheshet-Ribak, the most trusted shofar vendor in Israel.
